Affiliations
Kaneland Harter Middle School (KHMS) is a member of the North Central Junior Conference (NCJC). Members of NCJC include Belvidere Central, Belvidere South, Burlington Central, Burlington Prairie Knolls, DeKalb Huntley, DeKalb Rosette, Rochelle, and Sycamore. In addition, KHMS participates in the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) in the following sports: bowling, cross country, golf, and track.
Philosophy and Objectives
Extracurricular activities in School District 302 are considered an important supplement to the district’s total educational program. Participation in extracurricular activities is a privilege. Students are representatives of District 302 and will conduct themselves in a positive fashion at all times. Students will demonstrate our core values of respect, responsibility, integrity, citizenship, and commitment to excellence. Recognizing the importance of extracurricular participation in the development of the student, District 302 supports as broad a program as possible for its students.
The general objectives of the extra-curricular programs in School District 302 are:
- Provide a highly competitive experience grounded in sound educational practice.
- Assist in the healthy development of the body and mind of the student and help promote healthy living and lifelong fitness.
- Create an enjoyable experience for the players, fans, and community by promoting sportsmanship, morale, and school spirit.
- Instill qualities such as teamwork, pride, work ethic, personal responsibility, self-sacrifice, and discipline in its participants.
